About Us

There has been a Dr. Lummis in Cumberland County since 1876. Dr. Robert A. Lummis is a fourth generation dentist, following in his great-grandfather's steps. Dr. Lummis is also a premier provider of gold restorations. Our goal is to make your experience pleasant and comfortable.

Robert A. Lummis, DMD, MAGD
Dr. Lummis is the son of Dr. James F. Lummis and the fourth generation of Lummis dentists to practice in Bridgeton. Born in Bridgeton, Dr. Lummis graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1962. After graduating from Salem College, in Salem, West Virginia, he served in the military before going on to graduate from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey in 1974.

Dr. Lummis has continued his education throughout his career of over 30 years. He received his Masters of General Dentistry in 2001 after completing over 1100 hours of continuing education. Dr. Lummis has received the prestigious Fellowship award from the Academy of Dentistry International in 2005. He also is a founder of the R.V. Tucker Cast Gold Study Club of South Jersey and has been an acting president of the Cumberland County Dental Study Club. Recently, in the July 2005 issue of New Jersey Monthly Magazine, Dr. Lummis was voted one of the top 63 general dentists in New Jersey by his peers. Dr. Lummis still continues to excel in quality dentistry by continuing education and keeping current on the newest materials and the latest techniques.

Dr. Robert, Jr. is carrying on the family tradition of Lummis Dental. After making the commitment to the field, Robert worked his way through lab training at Louisiana State University and earned his DMD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in May 2008.  Dr. Robert Jr. is enjoying working with and learning from his father in the practice and is always accepting new patients.

Front Office

Sandy Syring (Office Manager) has been with Lummis Dental since 1995. Sandy helps our patients with payment plans, statements and any questions that our patients (old and new patients) may have.

Karen Christian (Scheduling Coordinator) is a Registered Dental Assistant who has been with Lummis Dental since 1998. Karen will take care of our patients scheduling needs and help with all aspects of their dental insurance.

Marla Murphy (Dental Assistant) has been with Lummis Dental since 1987. Marla is very professional and will make your dental visit a pleasant experience.

Patricia Schmidt (Registered Dental Assistant) has been with Lummis Dental since 1995. Patricia continues her dental education through seminars and will always make your dental visit very comfortable.

Kelly A. Ternay (Registered Dental Hygienist) has been with us since 1996. She will always make your hygiene visit relaxing and comfortable. Kelly has a gentle touch with over 15 years experience and our hygiene department has an extensive perio program.

Courtney Skversky (Registered Dental Hygienist) is our newest member to our family.  Courtney has been working full-time since November, 2007.  She is an enthusiastic and friendly asset to our office.  She will always make your visit pleasant, comfortable and educational.
